Cougar Vineyard & Winery

Cougar Vineyard & Winery is a family-owned Temecula winery located on the De Portola Wine Trail, specializing in estate-grown Italian varietals. Owners and winemakers Rick and Jennifer Buffington opened the winery in 2006 after more than 20 years of winemaking together.

Across Cougar’s 17-acre estate, the Buffingtons grow Italian grapes ranging from familiar favorites such as Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Primitivo, Vermentino and Pinot Grigio to lesser-known varietals including Aglianico, Arneis, Falanghina, Ciliegiolo, Negroamaro and Lambrusca di Alessandria. Temecula’s warm climate is particularly well suited to these Mediterranean varieties.

Cougar’s wines are made, bottled and stored on-site, creating a true ground-to-glass experience. Visitors can enjoy wine tasting with vineyard and valley views, pair the wines with food from Sangio’s Osteria, and experience the relaxed atmosphere of the De Portola Wine Trail. Cougar is also dog-friendly and welcomes families, making it an easy place to settle in and spend an afternoon in Temecula Wine Country.
