This special concert features three world-class jazz artists: keyboardist and composer Brian Simpson, trumpeter and vocalist Ilya Serov, and saxophonist Michael Paulo. After graduating from Northern Illinois University, Brian Simpson moved to Los Angeles, performing alongside Gerald Albright and Norman Brown, touring with Janet Jackson, and spending a decade with jazz legend George Duke. He has also worked with James Ingram, Anita Baker, Dave Koz, and Wayman Tisdale, and his writing and performing credits on R&B chart-topping and Smooth Jazz Airplay albums have made him a sought-after Music Director for jazz events worldwide.
Award-winning trumpeter, vocalist, songwriter, and producer Ilya Serov blends jazz, R&B, and Brazilian influences in his dynamic original music. A frequent collaborator of Dave Koz, Serov has performed at iconic jazz festivals, symphonic collaborations, and in film soundtracks, earning Best New Artist at the Hollywood International Music Awards in 2014. Known for playing his own invention, the Jazzohorn, Serov combines deep respect for jazz tradition with forward-thinking creativity.
Saxophonist Michael Paulo is one of the most versatile and celebrated voices in contemporary jazz, pop, and soul, with a career spanning nearly 35 years. He has performed with legends including Al Jarreau, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Bobby Caldwell, and Miles Davis, and appeared on a previously unreleased Miles Davis record that reached No. 1 on the Billboard Jazz charts. A musical prodigy from Hawaii, Paulo began performing professionally before joining the acclaimed band Kalapana and later touring for a decade with Al Jarreau. Paulo has performed extensively in Asia, served as artist-in-residence at the renowned Java Jazz Festival, and is also the visionary live event producer behind Rhythm on the Vine®. Together, Simpson, Serov, and Paulo promise a captivating evening celebrating the depth, passion, and innovation of contemporary jazz.
