Field2Fork/Slow Food Temecula Event

At the picturesque Leonesse Cellars Vineyard, passionate winemakers, chefs, and guests alike intermingled at the magnificent 3rd Annual Field2Fork Event, benefiting Slow Food Temecula. Local winery owners were on-hand, generously pouring their award-winning wines from Temecula Valley; participants included South Coast Winery, Ponte Family Estate Winery, Palumbo Family Vineyards and Winery, Robert Renzoni Vineyards, Oak Mountain Winery, Wiens Family Cellars, Briar Rose Winery, and many others.
Slow Food Temecula President and Founder Chef Leah di Bernardo welcomed the 500+ guests with a rousing call to action that emphasiz ed the importance of the Field2Fork benefit to help raise money for healthy school lunches, both locally and nationwide. Chef Evan Kleinman, host of KCRW’s Good Food and President of the Los Angeles Slow Food chapter, spoke briefly about her role in the founding of Slow Food LA after she visited Italy and saw how Europe values fresh, local food; she made it her goal to bring those healthy values to California.

Gourmet chefs from Temecula Valley restaurants prepared seasonal produce, meats and fish that paired perfectly with the local vino.  Lovely Viogniers, Cab Franc, Bordeaux blends and Syrahs topped the list of approachable varietals.  Served with a slight chill to balance the warm valley breeze, these friendly wines were indeed crowd pleasers and many went back for seconds — and thirds!
