Temecula Valley Announces New Charity Scarecrow Contest For Harvest Event Weekend

Based on popular vote, the winning winery will receive $500 for their favorite local charity

TEMECULA, Calif. (October 22, 2012)---Temecula Valley’s vintners invite wine lovers to get into the harvest spirit by voting in the region’s first ever Charity Scarecrow Contest, which kicks off November 3-4 at the 22nd Annual Harvest Celebration Barrel Tasting Weekend. Sponsored by the Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association, the contest inspires local wineries to get creative with bales of hay for a chance to win the $500 cash prize for their chosen non-profit organization. Charities include the Susan G. Komen Foundation (IE), Michelle’s Place and Our Nicolas Foundation.

Harvest Celebration attendees are encouraged to vote for their favorite scarecrow creation via the postcard provided in person or via email at info@temeculawines.org. Votes can also be cast by visiting Facebook at Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association and searching “Scarecrow Contest 2012.” Voting will continue online through November. Voters will automatically be entered into a drawing to win four tickets to the World of Wine Event in March. Winner will be contacted via email by December 15, 2012.

WHAT: 22nd Annual Harvest Celebration Barrel Tasting Weekend, a two-day event offering ticketed guests a chance to visit 35 Temecula Valley wineries on a self-guided tour celebrating the year’s grape harvest. Guests will enjoy wine and barrel samples, delicious food pairings, and live entertainment. This is the final passport event of 2012.

WHEN:  Saturday and Sunday, November 3-4, from 10-4:30pm

WHERE:  35 wineries in Temecula Valley Wine Country. Just 60-90 minutes from Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange County and Palm Springs. Exit I-15 at Rancho California Road and head east four miles.

TICKETS: Two-Day Ticket - $99

Sunday Only Ticket, Non-Resident - $79

Sunday Only, Local Residents - $69

Designated Driver (food only) - $59
