World of Wine Weekend: Food & Wine Pairing Highlights

WoW 2014 Menu Highlights:

•    Baily Vineyard is serving 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon with Beef Bourguignon; plus Parisian Apple Cake with warm caramel sauce and late harvest Sauvignon Blanc-Semillon whipped cream.
    •    Bel Vino is serving 2005 Prima Port – a limited-production Zinfandel dessert wine – paired with chocolate mousse tart topped with raspberries
•    Callaway is serving 2012 Winemaker’s Reserve Roussanne (pre-release) with Sage Mountain Farms organic beef meatloaf topped with bacon & apple chutney; plus rock shrimp and leek-mousse stuffed mushrooms.
•    Danza Del Sol is serving 2011 Tempranillo with roasted chicken, topped with a seared lemon glaze over sun-dried tomato orzo.
•    Falkner Winery is serving 2009 Meritage with a surf & turf burger slider (Black Angus beef, sauteed lobster, Boursin cheese) and a grilled octopus greek salad
•    Masia de Yabar is serving Estate Syrah with Spanish empanadas
•    Miramonte is serving 2012 Bin 380 signature red blend with Moroccan-spiced braised chicken over saffron rice pilaf
•    Palumbo is serving 2013 Brezza de Mare (a Viognier-Roussanne blend) and 2012 Sophia’s Vineyard (Cabernet Sauvignon barrel sample) with thin-sliced cold roast beef on garlic toast points, California chipotle cream relish.
•    Ponte is serving 2011 Barbera with mini brie en croute layered with toasted almonds, Crasins and a dark sugar glaze.

Temecula’s World of Wine Early Bird Tickets: $10 Off Thru February 1

World of Wines Barrel Tasting Weekend is Temecula Valley’s first regional tasting event of 2014, taking place March 1 & 2.

The “World of Wine” theme demonstrates the fact that the Temecula-South Coast AVA successfully grows varietals from all over the world. The WoW event is passport style, where hundreds of ticket-holders armed with a glass and a map can enjoy a self-guided tour through wine country. Over the course of the weekend, Temecula Valley’s 35 wineries offer special tastes of newly released, unreleased and barrel samplings of great Temecula wines, along with tasty tidbits and live music.

To promote and celebrate sustainability, participating wineries will have fun competing in the Best Winery Cork Art Contest, where the winning winery will receive a $500 donation to their favorite Southern California charity and the winning guest voter will be awarded four tickets to the region’s next big passport event.

Join us for our annual barrel tasting weekend, where you can take self-guided tours of 30+  wineries, sampling wine right from the barrel as well as from the many bottled offerings at each with one passport. March Facebook Contest – Win two tickets to Harvest Festival!

Temecula Valley invites you to enter our Cork Sculpture contest on Facebook for a chance to win two tickets to our popular Harvest barrel tasting weekend in November – includes tastings at over 30 wineries, a value of over $100!

Your favorite wineries were asked to build a sculpture made entirely of corks to display for the World of Wine weekend at the beginning of March.

All you need to do to be entered to win is become a fan of Temecula Valley Winegrowers Association (if you’re not already!) and make a quick comment to vote for your favorite cork creation!  The winning winery will receive $500 – and a lot of love from our fans! All fans who vote will be entered to win our random drawing for a pair of tickets to our Harvest Celebration, our exciting annual event celebrating the end of the crush season in November.  Stay tuned for the winner, which will be announced March 31, 2011.

November Scarecrow Contest!

For the fantastic Harvest Celebration held last weekend, participating wineries designed scarecrows for the first-ever November Scarecrow contest! All this month, visitors to wine country or to our Facebook page will have the chance to participate in a drawing to win four tickets to our upcoming World of Wine (March 5 and 6, 2011), a semi-annual two day barrel tasting event. All you have to do is submit your vote!

Check out as many winery scarecrows as you can and forward your vote for “The Best Scarecrow” to us via email. If you can’t make it out to Temecula Valley Wine Country before the end of the month, simply visit the TVWA Facebook page and check out the November Scarecrow Contest album containing pictures of the scarecrows from over 20 wineries. After you check out the photos, comment on your favorite to vote for it! Voting ends on November 30, 2010, and the drawing for the WoW ticket winner will take place on December 1, 2010. The winning winery will be announced on Friday, December 3rd, 2010 and all winners will be notified immediately.

To place your vote, please comment on your favorite photo in the November Scarecrow Contest photo album on Facebook! You can only vote once, so chose wisely.
