Temecula Wine Country Christmas Offerings

Visit Temecula Valley Wine Country this holiday season to take part in all of the celebrations and festivities specially prepared for you and your family to enjoy!  Whether you’re looking to help give back to the community or sit down to a gourmet meal, you’re guaranteed to have a jolly time! Ponte Family Estate Winery- Holiday Food Drive
November 1st through January 31st

Help Ponte Family Estate Winery fill the shelves of their local food pantry. Starting November 1st, Ponte is offering guests who bring in 5 or more canned food items 10% off in the Tasting Room (good on wine tastings or items in the Marketplace) and 5% off at the Restaurant at Ponte. Ponte Wine Club Members will receive 30% off in the Tasting Room and 15% off at the Restaurant. Drop offs can be made 7 days a week, between 10am-5pm, November 1st through January 31st. South Coast Winery- Ol’ Fashioned Christmas
Starts: December 24, 2010 at 5:00pm, Ends: December 25, 2010 at 10:00pm

Add a touch of sparkle to this year’s holiday festivities and experience a South Coast Winery Christmas tradition first hand. They are rolling out the red carpet with special menu creations and phenomenal wine pairings at the resort’s Vineyard Rose Restaurant for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Chef-of-the-Month Recipe with Thornton Winery’s Steve Pickell

Full of flavor and perfectly paired with Thornton Winery’s 2008 Riesling, this special holiday soup recipe is compliments of Executive Chef Steve Pickell, from the  award-winning Café Champagne at Thornton Winery in Temecula, CA. It’s the perfect dish to eat on a cold winter day or to serve as a first course for your holiday meal.

Curried Butternut Squash Soup


1 medium Butternut squash peeled, seeds removed chopped into cubes 1 small yellow onion peeled, chopped
2 cloves fresh peeled garlic 1 quart chicken stock
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2-3 tablespoons
Red Thai Curry paste
Salt & Pepper


1. Melt butter in a large soup pan. Add onions and garlic cook 1-2 minutes.
2. Add cubed butternut squash. Cook 1-2 minutes
3. Cover with chicken stock. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer 30 – 45 minutes or until squash is soft.
4. Blend soup, strain return to pot. Season with Thai curry paste and salt and pepper as needed.

Long-time Temecula Valley resident and winery-owner Phil Baily talks about his favorite wines, the history of Baily Winery, and how a good meal without wine is like “a day without sunshine.”

Baily Winery and Carol’s Restaurant is located at 33440 La Serena Way (Corner of Rancho California Road) in the heart of the Temecula Valley Wine Country.  They are open from 11 to 5 daily (10 to 5, Saturdays).
